This could almost be at the bottom of the sea - it looks like some kind of exotic sea urchin!

Almost like a floral anemone has attached itself to a cactus rock garden!

Ah, a lovely picture of one of my favourite plants. Iknow it as the Australian Sea Fig, and in Africa and here in Spain it grows all over the place, ANd is drought resistant too.
vintage: Sheila I have grown up with these plants around but I didnt Know about the sea fig bit.Thank you

Nice detail of what ray would refer to as the sex organs. They are around our southern seaboards as well. I know them as bokbaaivygies. Once the flower has died you can harvest the knob that was the flower and dry it out. Eat it like any other dried fruit.
vintage: Louis the saying you learn some thing new every day is true.I didn't know about harvesting the flower knob
Love the neon colour of this flower, and the intricate detail you have captured in the centre. (:o)
vintage: Thank you Ros it is and interesting Plant
AKA "pigface".
Nice one, Vintage. A nice pink one like that should have no trouble in attracting the sex-workers...perhaps they are having a sleep-in.
vintage: Ray I am glad you know this plant by it's name "pigface' but I think its Australian slang
